CAN I PLAY WITH YOUR MIND?

As a kid of the wonderful, turbulent and often confusing modern times, I have always been fascinated by social constructions that play between people. Most of all I’m still surprised by the value they give to what others think and the willingness of man to be manipulated. Constantly we are looking at ourselves and at others to compare. Like dolls or puppets that are played by someone else, we follow and are willing to change everything we like and stand for. We don’t want to stand out in the crowd. We perform like we are on stage and play someone else. As both a tribute to and a rebellion against this attitude the collection took shape. Watch and being watched is a central theme and is visualized by the image of the eye. Inspired by theatre and the art of performance, excessive forms, handwork and a touch of kitsch are no things that should be avoided. The elements of original jeans workwear, marked by uniformity, work as a counterpart and resting point in the collection. But most of all I want to show people who don’t stand back. Colorful, strange, bold and a little mad they play the show they want it to be. If you like it or not, they simply don’t care.
