Today we have to deal with a lot of impressions and pressure in our society. There’s always something that try’s to grab our attention on the street, on the internet, on TV, etc. with the most bright colors, movements everywhere… There’s never a moment of rest anymore. My interest in this overload of information and impressions, how we deal and whether we can deal with this, was the starting point of inspiration for the collection. To evoke the feeling of overstimulation or sensory overload I have inspired my collection by op-art and the works of some futuristic artists who wanted to show the movement in the big cities and of modern machines. Op-art evokes a feeing or experience of disorientation, which I associate with the feeling of sensory overload. Apart from this impression of sensory overload, protection against this overstimulation is also an essential element in my collection. So the masks are a symbol of protection against the outer world, but also of the dehumanization in modern society.
